Advanced Handling has a wealth of experience working with Pharmaceutical companies to find solutions for their handling challenges which meet lifting regulations as well as the extremely stringent regulations of the pharmaceutical industry.
Lifting & Handling in the Pharmaceutical Industry:
One-third of injuries in the pharmaceutical industry are caused by incorrect lifting and handling and the majority of these can be prevented before they go on to cause more series issues such as musculoskeletal injuries. Typical processes and tasks that are to blame for this include:
- Repetitive tasks such as stacking and packing
- Pushing and pulling trolleys
- Lifting heavy items such as powders and liquids
Conducting a regular risk assessment of the processes and tasks your employees frequently carry out will help identify areas where a lifting aid could dramatically improve your employee’s efficiency and overall safety within the company.
The Pharmaceutical industry relies on 100% consistency, reliability, accuracy and above all, optimised hygiene and health and safety. When selecting a new supplier or purchasing a new piece of equipment such as a lifting and handling solution, it is integral that the pharma company work with a supplier that fully understands the stringent regulations the industry has to comply with to reduce the risk of errors later down the line which could cause unnecessary downtime and serious and costly implications.
Advanced Handling has a wealth of experience and knowledge working with major players in the pharmaceutical industry including the largest employee in the UK, the NHS in their Biocentre and Abbots Diabetes and have a thorough understanding of the industry rules.
Read on to explore how our lifting and handling solutions have and can be adapted for the industry to carry out specific processes whilst complying with regulations.
Unique Challenges & Advanced Handling’s Solutions:
Here are just a few processes which widely occur in pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that can be improved using Advanced Handling’s lifting and handling solutions.
In the Laboratories & Research Areas:
Our Pronomic Lifting Trolley comes with the option of adding a platform with a built-in weighing scale suitable for use in a cleanroom environment and thus ideal for weighing and transporting goods in a laboratory in a food or pharma setting.
Advanced Handling also specialises in working on projects with customers collaborating to design, manufacture and install specialist lifting and handling solutions for their unique challenges. Click here to explore our bespoke solutions process to ensure it meets your needs and requirements, adheres to regulations.
We also have our Pronomic Lifting Pharmaceutical Trolley which has been specially adapted for a retail pharmacy or stores environment to minimise the risk of strain when lifting and transporting crates and cartons. These are available in stainless steel and with even further options such as a roller platform to make them even more ergonomic for the task at hand.
Alongside this, we have a number of options for carrying pallet loads of goods whether that is a Pronomic Lifting Trolley with forks, a Voyager Stacker, a Freedom Stacker or a Pallet Lifter. Contact us with your pallet’s weight and dimensions and we’ll advise as to which is the best option. These can also be used post-manufacturing in the distribution area.
Processing & Manufacturing:
This is the area of a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility where it is paramount that cross-contamination is avoided. The majority of Advanced Handling’s lifting and handling solutions can be manufactured using cleanroom environment grade 304 and 316 (corrosion resistant) stainless steel to ensure they meet the hygiene and health and safety regulation of the industry.
An example of a popular solution for the pharma or food industry is the Movomech Vacuum Lifter. This is ideal for lifting sack loads of ingredients from pallets, to the processing area or onto an additional mobile lifting solution to take ingredients to their next process.
Our Pronomic Lifting Trolleys, particularly the Pronomic IE model, is a key member of the team in many pharmaceutical factories as it is manufactured in Stainless Steel and has a fully welded chassis to maximise hygiene and durability and minimise areas where product can accumulate.
Whether it is a Squeeze & Turn model to lift, transport and tip pots of liquids or individual ingredients or an Expand & Turn model to transport rolls of packaging and labelling to spindles, we will have a solution for you.
Other add-ons/accessories we have which are perfect for the pharma industry include:
- Box Tilter
- Tipping Device
- Loading Platform
- Roller Platform
- Folded Platform for Containers
And all can be supplied in stainless steel for wash-down and hygiene purposes.
Packaging, Packing & Distribution:
Our Pronomic Squeeze & Turn mentioned above in the Processing section can also be used to carry reels and rolls of packaging, feeding them directly onto the spindle safely and efficiently.
We also specialise in manufacturing mezzanine goods lifts which can be used to carry pallet loads of finished products or ingredients, or equipment, up and down from a mezzanine floor or second floor. The lift’s platform can be manufactured in stainless steel so it complies with regulations, is non-corrosive and can be washed down.
