Who is Washcraft?

Washcraft Ltd is a well-known white goods manufacturer made up of several smaller companies around the world. Kingdom Appliances, owned by Washcraft Ltd, is one of those companies and is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of discounted and graded kitchen appliances.

The Challenge
Washcraft invested in a 58,000 sq ft old car showroom facility to convert it into new factory space for for Kingdom Appliances. As part of this project, they installed a mezzanine floor to optimise their factory footprint and ultimately, help with the storage of their white goods.
-
The Solution
Advanced Handling ordinarily visits site to explore the environment and to measure up space for the solution however, in this case, the floor and therefore then space for the mezzanine lift didn’t exist. Instead, Advanced Handling involved themselves in the renovation plans offering advice as to where the lift would be most suitably placed and how it was to be installed in line with the new mezzanine floor.
All Advanced Handling’s lifts are designed and manufactured in-house meaning the specifications can be tailored to the customer’s exact requirements. In this case, Advanced Handling recommended a 500kg goods lift with a 1,500mm x 1,500mm usable floor space – designed exactly to fit four domestic white goods in at once and a lift height of 3,400mm from ground floor to the mezzanine floor. It was also designed to travel at 100mm/s to optimise the facility’s efficiency and productivity.
It was also suggested that Washcraft Ltd pit-mounted the lift and went for the option of adding bridging plates at both ground floor and the mezzanine floor to aid loading and unloading.
Advanced Handling’s mezzanine goods lift come as standard with many safety features and Washcraft’s lift was no exception. The doors supplied come with electrical mechanical interlocks meaning the doors cannot be opened at all once the lift is in action and during operation until the lift has reached its floor and has come to a safe stop.
The lift came with simple to operate, one-touch controls on both the ground floor and the mezzanine floor. Emergency stop buttons on every floor also come as standard to immediately stop the lift in action if there is an obstruction or if an emergency occurs.
Advanced Handling even changed the RAL colour from their usual 7021 to RAL 7016 to match the customer’s mezzanine structure to make the lift aesthetically fit into their set-up.

The Benefits
Washcraft was so impressed with Advanced Handling’s work that they invested in a service contract with Advanced Handling which involves to visits to their site per year to service and maintain their lift so it is always working at its optimum. This provides Washcraft and thus Kingdom Appliances peace of mind that their lift will always be up and running and part of their team!
