Who is George Estates Ltd?

George Estates are a small team who offer flexible offices, workshops, studios and storage units to let, on short and long-term leases across the south of England.
-
The Challenge
George Estates had a tall self-storage building under development where the decision was made to split the large space into smaller units. With lots of customer storage items on site already, the currently un-used first floor was now going to be used as a test area for indoor self-storage. The challenge was getting customers’ storage items up to the floor.
The facility had access issues and a restricted amount of space. A personnel lift was not considered due to budgeting reasons. A solution ensuring tenants could easily transport their items to and from the floor was required.
-
The Solution
In order for users to transport their storage items safely to and from the first floor, Advanced Handling designed, manufactured and installed a goods lift in a tight space with a 1000kg capacity, a useable platform size of 2000 x 2000mm, a lift height of 3045mm, and with a control panel and emergency stop button at each level. The goods lift requires no special training or certification to operate it making it easy, safe and efficient for all customers to use.
What stood out to the customer the most on this lift was ‘The security of the lift. It is unable to operate if things aren’t in the right position, like the gates for example. We like that the operation controls are on the outside of the lift to stop people from going into the lift. We like how smoothly the lift goes up and down, plus it’s very quiet to operate.’
-
The Benefits
George Estates are now able to utilise the first floor of their new self-storage facility allowing them to expand their business by taking on more customers and their storage items. They have peace of mind knowing that their users are able to transport storage items to the first floor safely.

Feedback
“It was our first time having a lift installed. It was all quite technical however various emails and calls made it simpler. I was nervous signing off the technical design drawings however we had two site visits before the lift was signed off to double check everything was going to be as requested. We were really happy with the pre-delivery inspection; you did a good job making sure the designed lift would fit into our space and work with our customers.”
“Our Advanced Handling Account Manager was great and kept in contact with us throughout. It took us a while to make our decision; he was very patient and not pushy. We met the Technical Manager who did the pre-delivery inspection and then finally the Installation Team who were great; we met with them on the sign off date where we received full training on how to operate the lift; there were no problems. “
” I would give 5 stars; Advanced Handling made everything easy to understand and made the process easy to follow. We were happy with the pre-delivery checks because it took the pressure off. The installation went very smoothy and everyone is very happy with it.” – Daniel French / Operations Manager / George Estates.
