MP visits Advanced handling HQ
Advanced Handling, the UK’s premier bespoke material handling solution supplier, recently moved to a large new factory in Orton Southgate, Peterborough. After taking over the manufacture of lifting tables and goods lifts from Swedish sister company, BD Lift.
The company was delighted to accept the support of Shailesh Vara MP, Member of Parliament for North West Cambridgeshire and we were pleased to welcome him to the Orton Southgate head office for a tour of the factory and facilities.

Overview
He was particularly impressed with the work we were carrying out in the manufacturing hall where we were also accompanied by Jason Northern, Advanced Handling’s Manufacturing Manager who had a chance to explain the processes involved in producing our equipment.
Mike Prince, MD, commented “The move to our much larger premises in Peterborough was part of an exciting group project to transfer manufacturing from one of our Swedish sites in Klippan to our new site here in the UK. In these times of change and with Brexit looming, I see the introduction of a solid manufacturing enterprise with a range of local job opportunities as a real positive story for Peterborough.”
Advanced Handling, established in 1978, manufactures a wide range of lifting and handling equipment, much of which has a bespoke element. As part of the growth strategy, the company is in the process of hiring local workers to fill a range of job roles including skilled manufacturing, welding, fitting assembly testing and design roles.
Advanced Handling specialise in the design and manufacture of bespoke material handling solutions and are a member of the Sunnex Group, a privately owned business group with about 20 member companies operating in the fields of lifting technology, lighting and medical & industrial equipment. The relocation from Market Deeping to Peterborough is a result of recent unprecedented UK demand for bespoke handling equipment.
