In 2016, we became the first materials handling company to be accepted into the Made in Britain campaign, an initiative created to support and promote British manufacturing. In fact, our solutions are both designed and manufactured by our team of experts at Advanced Handling HQ, a purpose-built, state-of-the-art building in Peterborough.

Who is Ultima Furniture?

Ultima Furniture prides themselves in designing and manufacturing superior quality, versatile and tailored kitchen solutions for those who are looking for something a bit more special and innovative than a standard product.

Like Advanced Handling, they’ve been accredited Made in Britain status as everything they send out is made and hand finished in one of their Yorkshire manufacturing facilities.

The Challenge:

Ultima furniture was opening a new production area which operated across multiple floors. Their set-up required them to transport pallet loads of products from the loading bay on the ground floor, to the storage area on the second floor prompting their decision to invest in a goods lift.

The Solution:

Advanced Handling designed and manufactured two pit-mounted, three stop, heavy-duty goods lift with a capacity of 1,000kg to manage the lifting of pallets from the ground floor to the second floor. The pit-mounting eliminated the need for a ramp which can be a trip hazard in busy manufacturing environments.

The overall height of the goods lift reached 4,300mm to the height of the upper level. Both lifts featured safety shoot bolts which automatically hold the platform at either of the raised levels whilst being loaded.

During development, the specification was enhanced to allow the lift to stop at the first floor which was previously bypassed in the original plans. The additional stop has provided them with the flexibility to move goods around all three levels in a safe and efficient manner.

The Benefits:

Ultima Furniture had peace of mind that they could safely and efficiently transport goods from the loading bay to the storage area. Adapting the lift during the process so it could stop on the second floor has also provided them with a flexible solution for any future changes that might occur increasing the overall value of the lift.
