Who is Il Fornaio?
Il Fornaio Ltd, a family run Italian bakery produces the finest Focaccia, Ciabatta and Panini breads, supplying leading airlines, sandwich manufacturers and food service retailers.
Due to expansion, Il Fornaio found they were beginning to outgrow their current unit and either needed to find larger premises or create more space at the existing site. Il Fornaio chose the latter and built a mezzanine floor to provide additional room above the ground floor bakery.
Advanced Handling were recommended to Il Fornaio and as a result we were asked to provide a suitable solution for moving baked goods between the new upper level and the existing dispatch area on the lower floor.
Advanced Handling designed and installed a Mezzanine Goods Lift to reach a height of 3,800mm with a capacity of 500kg. The lift was specially designed to take two roll cages, each measuring 920mm x 840mm and enable fully automated operation between floors.
There were a number of demanding aspects to the specification surrounding the installation, for example the excessive heat the lift was required to work in and as the product might come into contact with the platform it had to be constructed out of food grade stainless steel.
The fully bespoke mezzanine goods lift fitted perfectly into the available area and is an ideal solution for the transportation of bakery items from one floor to another. The lift was fitted with safety features making it safe and efficient for operators to use, helping to speed up productivity.
