Who is Getley UK Ltd?

Established in 2006, Getley UK Ltd specialises in the manufacture and supply of high-quality, bespoke cabinets and carcasses to both end-users and trade customers of the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom industry.

  • The Challenge

Getley UK received several daily deliveries of products, parts and materials which required efficient and reliable transport up to their mezzanine floor for storage. Prior to the mezzanine lift, their previous process created a backlog of pallets in the goods-in area, due to materials needing to move up to the mezzanine floor with a forklift. This created significant space restrictions in the warehouse.

By reviewing their processes, they identified that they would benefit from a goods lift, capable of transporting entire pallets directly to the mezzanine floor.

Following online research, they contacted Advanced Handling. During the consultation, they were quickly reassured, giving them the confidence that they were making the right choice.

The team at Advanced Handling reviewed all access points prior to installation. A low-height shutter presented an extra challenge, but it was fully accounted for throughout the design and installation planning stages.

  • The Solution

Advanced Handling designed and manufactured a 1000kg custom mezzanine lift, featuring a platform specifically sized to handle Euro pallets.

The lift featured through-loading entrance and exit points allowing pallets to be pushed directly off once the lift was locked into position on the mezzanine floor. It was also designed with bi-parting doors rather than a single gate, which reduced the space needed for doors to open and close.

Advanced Handling carefully planned the lift design, so that the mast, manufactured in a single section, could manoeuvre through the shutter prior to manufacture, to avoid complexities at install stage.

Getley UK also requested one-touch controls making the lift more operator friendly and enhancing health and safety. The goods lift featured interlocking gates to prevent access during operation and emergency stop buttons on each floor to disable the lift immediately in case of an emergency.

  • The Benefits

Getley UK can now transport deliveries directly up to the mezzanine floor without the need for a forklift truck. Their goods-in area is now completely free of pallets, providing significantly more space and improving overall health, safety and productivity.
