Who are the Fyffes Group?

Fyffes Group is one of the largest tropical produce importers and distributors in Europe.  The group is primarily involved in the production, procurement, shipping, ripening, distribution and marketing of bananas, pineapples and melons.

The Challenge

The Fyffes Group Health and Safety Executive conducted an audit across their four UK sites and identified improvements which could be made to the production line.  For instance, a factory operator would experience a high level of bending and twisting which was a potentially high cause of health and safety injuries as well as contributing to decreased efficiency in the production process.

The Solution

Fyffes Group approached Advanced Handling to provide a solution to help eliminate the operator health and safety issues initially at the Wakefield site and on completion expanded out to three other locations. In total Advanced Handling provided eight Low Profile Static Scissor Tables to lift a capacity of 1.000kg.

The Benefits

The Basingstoke site has now taken out a Service Contract with Advanced Handling for their scissor table to ensure their materials handling equipment is kept running to its absolute optimum throughout its working life.
