Who is Bloodhound SSC?

BLOODHOUND SSC is a unique; high-technology project to design and build a car that will break the 1,000mph barrier and set a new world land speed record. Designed and constructed in the UK, BLOODHOUND SSC includes components and sponsorship from international companies and will make its record attempt in South Africa.

The Challenge

As the ultimate, unlimited racing car, BLOODHOUND SSC will also be the catalyst for a raft of cutting-edge research in fields such as aerodynamics, computational fluid dynamics, materials technology, composite manufacturing and sustainable high-tech engineering.  BLOODHOUND SSC was lifting and moving multiple pieces of highly valuable equipment including the APU (auxiliary power unit) and required handling equipment to help them with this process.

The Solution

Two 800kg heavy-duty manual pump mobile scissor tables. The Advanced Handling mobile scissors tables were initially chosen by BLOODHOUND SCC due to the variety of different options available, and free consultancy offered on site by our sales team. The BLOODHOUND SSC team were also very interested in the Advanced Handling safety features; our scissor tables are designed with a slow lowering valve which controls the descending speed of the platform.

Also, each table is fitted with a total stop brake as standard to prevent the table from moving when loading and unloading. After visiting the site we selected our 800kg mobile scissor tables because of their reliability, heavy duty lifting capabilities and adaptability.

The Benefits

With the implementation of our mobile scissor tables, the client is able to handle heavy duty pieces of equipment more safely and effectively and they have reduced the risk of injury. The ability to move these tables around freely means this fast-paced project has the flexibility it needs.

Due to the important nature of this project, the reputation of our high-quality scissor tables was the key reason BLOODHOUND SSC chose our product. As the majority of our products are designed, engineered and manufactured here in the UK Advanced Handling are delighted to be supporting such an exciting home-grown engineering project.
