Sandy Lane Equestrian is a registered charity and member of the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), providing disabled people with the opportunity to ride and enjoy horse riding in a fun and safe environment.

Following increasing expansion of Sandy Lane, Advanced Handling were approached to design and build a solution for lifting and mounting diabled riders onto horseback.  Previously, an existing lift that Sandy Lane sourced had proven to be unreliable and so had to be replaced with a more dependable unit. Additionally, it had to be supplied within a tight timeframe to avoid disrupting activity for RDA pupils.

Advanced Handling designed and built a lift table for use outside the centres' all weather arena with a capacity of 500kg and lifting to a height of 1300mm.  A key feature of this specially designed scissor lift is the heavy duty welded safety gates with 150mm high kick boards fitted to both sides.  The are interlocking into the control system of the lift so the platfrom will not raise or lower when the gates are open.

Advanced Handling worked alongside Rose and Carl Tommons, founders of Sandy Lane Equestrian, to ensure that the equipment supplied not only achieved all expectations but also met vital Health & Safety regulations.  "We are very happy with the service and product that Advanced Handling have provided and the lift is a far superior system to what we had before" says Carl, "They performed admirably throughout the duration of the project".

Since introducing the lift, Sandy have been able to increase efficiency by ensuring a quick and hassle free process for lifting RDA pupils onto horseback and dramatically eliminate staff manual handling risks.
