Who is Getley UK Ltd?

Established in 2006, Getley UK Ltd specialises in the manufacture and supply of high-quality, bespoke cabinets and carcasses to both end-users and trade customers of the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom industry.

  • The Challenge

Getley UK received multiple deliveries a day of products, parts and materials all of which needed to be transported onto the mezzanine floor for storage. Their process prior to investing in a lift meant that there was always a backlog of pallets in the goods-in area whilst the materials were transported from the pallets and up to the mezzanine floor with a forklift. This meant that Getley UK’s warehouse was sometimes extremely space restricted.

After reviewing their processes, Getley UK recognised how they would benefit from a goods lift which could take whole pallets at once up and onto the mezzanine floor.

They contacted Advanced Handling online after researching companies offering solutions of a similar nature and were made to feel comfortable that they were buying from the right company by Advanced Handling’s knowledge and understanding during the consultation period.

Advanced Handling also took the time to assess the access points ready for install which due to the low height shutter was an additional element to consider during the design and install process.

  • The Solution

Advanced Handling designed and manufactured a custom goods lift with a 1,000kg capacity and a platform size perfect for lifting their Euro pallets.

The lift featured through-loading entrance and exit points allowing the pallet to be pushed straight off once the lift has locked into position on the mezzanine floor. It was also designed with bi-parting doors rather than just a single gate, so the doors required less room around them to open and close.

Advanced Handling also ensured that the mast (designed and manufactured in a single section) could manoeuvre through the shutter before manufacture to avoid complexities at install stage.

Getley UK also requested one-touch controls making it even more operator friendly and improving the lift from a health and safety perspective. Advanced Handling’s lifts feature interlocking gates to block access during operation and an emergency stop button on each floor to disable the lift immediately in an emergency.

  • The Benefits

Getley UK can now transport their deliveries straight up to the mezzanine floor without the need for a forklift truck. Their goods-in area is now totally clear of pallets providing them with lots more space and improving their overall health, safety and productivity.
