The Challenge
The factory required a lifting aid for their copper pans of molten hot melted sugar, glucose, and water. They needed to be able to hold the pot still whilst they poured the liquid into the pan, transport the pan safely and smoothly over to the production bay and then tilt the pot to ensure employees can easily reach the last drops of the melted sugar to avoid wastage and also protect staff against burning themselves.
They contacted Advanced Handling because they saw our solutions online and appreciated our commitment to providing the right and best solution, even if it means designing custom solutions and modifications. They also recognised our experience and knowledge of their industry.

The Solution
Advanced Handling visited site to see the application and the route from the cooking area to the production line to ensure that the solution could be moved around easily fitting around their existing factory set-up.
Advanced Handling concluded a Pronomic 90E Lifting trolley designed with a bespoke tray attachment would be the perfect solution for George Romney’s application. The tray measured 450mm x 435mm and featured a hole in the centre with a 290mm diameter where the copper pot could sit securely. Due to the food manufacturing industry’s regulations, the custom tray attachment had to be manufactured in food-grade stainless steel as it was being used within a high-care environment where the food product was exposed. Advanced Handling has a lot of experience working in the food and drink manufacturing industry and therefore designed the Pronomic with this in mind.
The Pronomic Lifting Trolley is designed ergonomically with a narrow wheel base width, so it is extremely easy to manoeuvre around space restricted areas such as George Romney’s factory, even with a 60kg full copper pot on the front meaning anyone can use trolley and carry out the process safely.
George Romney Operators could then wheel the Pronomic 90E lifting trolley to the cooking station, pour the liquid from the cooker and into the copper pan, then transport the copper pan to the production line to safely and easily ladle the mixture into the moulds, tilting the pot as it empties to ensure they’re not wasting any of the mixture.

The Benefits
George Romney’s employees can now carry out this precarious task with peace of mind that it is both safe and efficient.
