Who is Darchem Engineering?

Darchem Engineering Ltd design, manufactures and installs engineering product and service solutions to high temperature/thermal engineering challenges. Their customer base covers a wide range of industries including aerospace, Motorsport, marine defence, nuclear and oil and gas applications.

  • The Challenge

Due to growth, Darchem Engineering Ltd was faced with the challenge of improving their storage and operations using their existing footprint to better suit the company’s new requirements.

As part of this, they renovated an office building on-site, converting the roof into a mezzanine floor for additional storage space to house excess material and store CNC tools long-term. As a result of this, they needed a goods lift to transport everything to and from the new mezzanine floor.

  • The Solution

Advanced Handling Ltd visited the site both before the project commenced and during, working collaboratively with Darchem to ensure the lift was the right specification and ready on time to be fitted once the mezzanine floor was in place.

Advanced Handling’s 1,000kg Heavy Duty Goods Lift standard specification met all Darchem’s requirements meaning the lift could be turned around in an exceedingly tight timescale to fit in with their mezzanine floor installation. As Advanced Handling manufactured in-house, lifts can be modified and adapted to suit, even if that means designing a custom lift from scratch.

The 1,000kg heavy-duty goods lift was 1,300 x 1,300mm, the perfect dimensions to hold a standard pallet which is what Darchem stored their CNC tools on. It also features a ramp so it could be loaded and unloaded using a pallet truck which means in many cases including Darchem’s, there is no need for any structural changes reducing the installation time.

  • The Benefits

Darchem Engineering’s requirements and easy-access set-up made them the perfect candidate for a standard Advanced Handling Ltd Goods Lift meaning the manufacture and install could be completed in just six weeks from when the order was placed. Advanced Handling’s ergonomic, easy to operate, one-click controls meant that the lift was up and running and an integral part of Darchem’s everyday operations in no time at all meeting their needs to increase storage and improve overall operations with their existing footprint.
